Time Deprivation

34 years and you've kept me from her
We have yet to meet but
I've dreamed a time or 2
More than one close call
I thought it was you

I'm far passed impatient
You've deprived me of time
Will she have red hair?
Will her eyes be blue?
I grow tired and the less I care

What I want is changing
Will she even recognize me?
I've developed strength all alone
I want to be strong together
I worry all my shots have been blown

Darkness and Grass

I nominate the darkness and the grass
All the cold things
All the quiet things
To remind us that we’re alive
Subtle sting on the face
Shallow scratch to the bottoms of the feet

I nominate the darkness and the grass
Memories of fear
Re-telling of comfort
To remind us how to stay alive
Unknown lurking without light
Bugs and crawlers in the green

I nominate the darkness and the grass
These represent the beginning
They foreshadow the end
To remind others of us after our lives
Return to darkness
Regrowth of grass

Your Way is Lost

Your way is lost
when strangers are important
but loved ones are not.
Drawn to new friends
the old ones are forgot.
Parents hold no sway?
For your well-being is what they fought.
Tender ones say, "I love you."
Why respond with "dot dot dot?"
People that need you most
get cut out of your life's plot.
Reattach to your roots
then maybe your leaves have a shot.

Better Knowledge Down Here

Better off but not better
Hubris is a fetter
Shackled down
Still a trendsetter

Set your pitchfork down
5 meters then 25 around
We barter with kindness here
In brotherhood, we are bound

Light/dark are weightless here
Juxtapose all you want, my dear
Aspire for more than knowledge
We have it in spades, don't fear

Down here you're better off with knowledge... but not better.
